There is a single time
A single word
That changes lives
In a second
You took me to a garden
Showed me lilac flowers
We took photos
And we smiled
Under the early summer sun
And there was a path
A route you chose
With the lilac flowers
Hanging like bells on the green bush
I stopped and looked
Distracted by their beauty
Then you turned
And gave me a sheep
A single fluffy sheep
Like Gabriel Oak to Bathsheba
(All proceeds to Thomas Hardy)
I was lost for a moment
After all it was a fluffy sheep
The plushest to-die-for kind
And then you said,
"Actually ..."
Actually there was something else
That you wanted to ask
And then I turned around
And there you were kneeling
Actually kneeling
With the ring sparkling in the sunlight
Oh yes there was a single time
And there was a single word
One word that uttered from my lips
As I hugged that sheep
And my eyes
Widened in shock and adoration
Which was only ever one thing
Only ever going to be
One thing
Indeed
"Are you serious?"
-I mean, it was,
It was "yes."
A collection of poems and short stories, from a long time ago and from today. Some are light hearted, others are more serious, some are simply extracts from larger pieces of ficiton I am writing.

Actually ... Yes
Thursday, 21 May 2015
Friend, Are You Here Again?
You are in my world
Standing at the edge of the void
A very long time ago
We said goodbye
A few times, maybe more,
Always more, saying
"Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye."
But now you are back again.
I see you there
Standing at the crossroads
Between my reality
And imagination
Life is short and life is sweet
One day we said goodbye
Yes that is what we said,
"Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye."
But now you are back here
And I don't know why.
I see you there
And I am curious
I feel no hard heartedness, no pain
Only memory as I smile
And you do not look back
Oh I say hello to the wind
More times, saying,
"Hello. Hello. Hello."
But your presence is fleeting.
Again you are gone to the wind.
Back To
you and I had simple lives
had simple thoughts and
simple dreams
and
simple hopes and all was as it seems
I just want to go back
to the times of plenty
where horses roamed free
and the grass wasn't pricky
it was
fresh and green and smelt so sweet
lush and long that
was a carpet for your feet
all day long
and you
didn't need socks or shoes
all you needed was a song
you could
run around
in the fields all day
and never worry about the kids
never worry if they strayed
because
its a time where all is simple
they'll always come home
I want to go back
to a time we could be on our own.
Lesbian Antics
There's nothing going on with me and you
When you stretch your arm to put it behind
I do get bothered, I do actually mind
You see life is life and death is death
And love is love, and all the rest
So maybe I might have maybe encouraged you
I want you to know that I never meant to
You see there's a hole in my heart
But its already filled with a certain art
With crimes of passion and fits of lust
A bit of lacey lingerie, a hint of bust
That gets my ... well, hormones in a twist
I awakened, aroused ... you get the gist
There's already someone dear, so go away
I don't need you to think of me that way

Faded
As I sink into the wall
My eyes gaze at you
I'm fading into the dull light
And you cannot see me
For I am gone
All gone
Faded so away
I'm your typical wallflower
Quiet and repressed
Silent and so invisible
Watching in the eaves
As the world acts on around me
Sweet silence
I'm watching you with love

Moon
Thin crescent moon
How can you
Smile so squint
Its like
Being on your side
Bobbing your head
Doing the splits
Along a roof corner
You have no eyes
You just grin and stare
With no teeth
But crooked patches
Where your seas should be
Oh
Thin crescent moon
In the night
And in the day
You look like
Nothing I've ever wanted
Apart from a banana

Bobbing
Your little bobbing head
With your little bobbing hormones
Bobbing through your body
You have no bobbing control
You're a little bobbing boy
Chasing a little bobbing girl
Bobbing both in time
To this little bobbing world
Your a tiny bobbing creature
With feathery bobbing wings
You're bobbing a-wanting her
But she doesn't bobbing care
Its an unfair bobbing world
To leave a bobbing boy behind
The girl has no bobbing want
To your bobbing flirtations
But you keep bobbing after her
Instinct bobbing you along
Keep going bobbing, I say
I praise your bobbing
And wish you the bobbing best
So bob along, little pigeon
You'll bob over the rest
