The sun shines through your window curtains
It lights on your face and I smile
As I sit up in this room, watching the fading evening light
I think of all the times we've spoken
All the few times we've met
And the ways tears have been shed
Those momentary hugs and the times when we had only three words for each other
Like father to son
Like mother to daughter
Like friend to dear friend
But this time
Lover to lover
"I
love you."
A collection of poems and short stories, from a long time ago and from today. Some are light hearted, others are more serious, some are simply extracts from larger pieces of ficiton I am writing.

29/01 Change
It's pitch black outside
And I'm rocking uncontrollably
The quaking is not just from the rails
But in my heart, it's true
As time has passed
Things have changed
To the point where naught I know
Of when adventures start
And adventures end
And arrivals come to be born
Sitting in a chair
Drinking powder made of salt and sugar
Drowned in water, drowned in tears
I'm gasping as I try to learn
As times pass and things change
And the world is not the same as it was

27/01 Age (Maturity)
Once there was me
And once there was you
And one day there was us
In a world numbered two
Then there was time
Then there was three
And we were just so
Purely consciously happy
It was four soon after
Five, then six, seven
We had a lifetime of joys
And it seemed like heaven
That was until they aged
And they matured and grew
They reached puberty, university
And from the home they flew
There were tears from us
Then shrugs and sighs
We talked together and
Philosophised the wise
For what had been two
Had been blessed, ensured
And became seven
In a way that endured
But now again we were us
We were just two
The children aged, left
Leaving just me and you
Me and you alone my dear
Until the darkness to one
It took you in my sleep my dear
And now I'm all alone

26/01 Wood to Wade
In the wood
There's a woman who could
And a man who would
At the shore
There is a man wanting more
And a woman not sure
By the road
There is a man who goads
And a woman who unloads
By the wade
There's a man who persuades
And a woman whose laid

25/01 Falling
Slipping
Into that darkness
I thought I'd avoid
Slipping deeper into the sorrow
That comes from the void
I'm falling
Down and darker
Getting lost as I go
I left my string behind
That which guided me
Safely home

24/01 Boom
Hold
Me close
And never let go
Let me
Listen
To the
Beat of your heart
Boom boom
Your heart
Boom boom
Your heart
