The Rape, They Call It

Single and small
The seeds popped into her mouth
One by one by one
The purple flesh around them
With such a thin skin
It took just a touch
Of canines
To pierce it and release
The fresh sweet juice
Of a life so eternal
The taste was pure
And her desire was avid
She was a young girl
Barely fourteen
And full of absolute
Lust
For the fruit
Because she would never
Obey what her mother said
Like no child
In these stories ever does
So she ate and devoured
Seven seeds
Of the pomegranate
And a voice around her
Echoed in the halls around her
Roared in the halls around her
Causing the flames to dance
"You did it, you did
You ate it pure
You did it, you did
That which they told you not to."
She gasped
And she gulped,
Surprised at first
And the seventh seed fell
From her mouth
Leaving her only six to swallow
She
Bit her lip
Looking guilty or
Looking afraid
There were too many emotions to show
Her hands rolled tight
She smothered a grin
And looked around
Cheeky
Cheeky
Child
"You can't keep me,
Monster thine,
I am Demeter's daughter,
And you are a wretch."
The voice around her
As swift as darkness
Resounded
Amused,
It laughed
"Mummy's girl
They said you were a mummy's girl
So beautiful
But you're not a mummy's girl
Are you?
You're a wretch yourself
Aren't you?"
There came a pause
A pause indeed
And silence as the girl
Played
With greed
The voice listened
The master of hell listened
Waiting patiently
Oh so patiently
The ultimate kidnapper
Who had guessed perfectly right.
"She told me not to eat,
So I did
Six seeds for six months
That is the deal."
She winked at the fire
At the flames so high
The scorch marks
Brushed the ceiling
High
Up high
"You are more clever
Than I expected, dear oh my dear
Fourteen years old
Deep in puberty
Rebel in soul."
Persephone laughed
Then Persephone giggled
She removed her dress
And the hairpins too
Sexily
She placed a hand on her hip
Thrust out her abdomen
She winked
To Hades
His guess having worked
Her adolescent nature
Having been persuaded
Freedom
At last
From constraining
Controlling
Irritating Demeter
Her mother Demeter
Over protective
Demeter
"Come and get me tiger,"
She roared
Winked again
Once more,
"Just never tell mother
This was deliberate."
"Don't worry,"
He said
Stepping from the void,
"I'd never tell my brother
Your father
You're true feelings
If I am yours."

Sunday 4 January 2015

You told me

Didn't you say you wanted to cry?

Didn't you say you wanted to sigh?

Didn't you say you wanted
To back away
And be alone, all alone
Away and,
All alone?

Well I,
All I did was I,
I -
I made it easier.
I made it happen.

You ask me why.
Why, why, why?
I tell you why
And you cry.

You break down in tears and
Tell me not to go
Beg to me on the phone
As I
Sit in my
Single room flat
With a single bed and only
A rabbit for company.

But I
Have already gone from
Your future because you
Told me you wanted to say goodbye

You told me you wanted to cry

You told me, you told me, you wanted to sigh.

You told me you wanted to be alone,
All alone,
You wanted to back away,
And be gone from here
All day, all night.

So why - why
Do you beg me now to come back?
