Alternative Arthur

Once upon a time
In a land far away
There was a little shepherd boy
With the greatest part to play
He was a king without a kingdom
A man without the growth
He had a purpose to live to
"Ane perrfekt legende trowthe"
He knew the word Excalibur
And he knew the name of the Mage
But just how to get two together
Would prove to be strange
For there was a big old tree
And there was a mighty half bro
Whose name was Kay, it be said
And he fretted to and fro
Oh yes he forgot his sword
At the tourney to make a king
And his little kin found another
Beside the tree that could sing
Sing of old my friend, my dear
Sing of things never sung
With a voice of ages old
Of a man who was never young
And there was a sword there
Lodged tight in a boulder
Little boy lifted it out
Hefted it onto his shoulder
And then the song broke
It died in gorgeous g sharp
And the spell of the tree broke
Snapping like the string of a harp
Out from the tree the Mage stepped
He blinked and cocked his head
He looked at the boy,
Proclaimed him the king
And history became not future
But history instead.
